4th Latin American and Caribbean Trip 2020

The exhibition will be on display from 4th– 12th March 2020 (except for 10th March on account of Holi) from 11 AM to 7 PM. The costing of the setting, lights, diplomas/certificates and high tea would be arranged within the capacity of the budget allotted for this event.

As suggested in a previous email, Embassies with the winning photographs may present a special token/ prize to the winners. To reiterate, the winners of the contest are:

·         2nd Prize: Priy Bharti, Eje Cafetero, Colombia

·         3rd Prize: Tushar Anand, Palenque, México

·         4th Prize: Bhartendu Agarwal, Iguazú, Brazil-Argentina

The Embassy of Mexico will be sending out e-invitations (attached for your reference) to all participants, winners of the contest, and press contacts. We are relying on other Embassies to do the same: either invite directly their own contacts in media and tourism, or share them in order to send the emails from the contest account.

50th Republic Anniversary of Guyana

The High Commission of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana in India celebrates Guyana’s 50th Republic Anniversary!

On February 21st, 2020 GHC in India inaugurated a Cultural Exhibition in celebration of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary as a Republic nation. The event was opened by the Joint Secretary of the LAC Division (MEA) Ms. Gloria Gangte. Joined in the festivities were members of the Diplomatic Corps, Indian business representatives, Guyanese diaspora and other friends of GHC.

The exhibition showcased tie-dye pieces, snapshots of the majestic Kaieteur Falls, Rupununi Savannah, the city Georgetown, Guyana’s indigenous group – the Amerindians, the pulsating Mashramani parade and the kaleidoscopic Diwali motorcade (Photo credits to the Guyana Tourism Authority and Fidal Bassier). The works of Guyanese Artists like Basil A. Thompson (painting and 1970s lithographic posters of the Stabroek Market), Raymond Taylor and Foster Simon (wooden sculptures) were also on display. The highlight of the event was smidgens of Guyana’s first oil!

Locally manufactured products, books by Guyanese authors, and other tourist materials about the tropical paradise were also available at the Exhibition. This Exhibition is slated to be a month long.

Happy 50th Republic, Guyana!!!

DPC’s next photo bus trip all set to visit Mandawa and Village Tour the Upcoming Art Village  . 

The place known as worlds Largest open art Gallery, its  Haveli and Bawdi’s are famous.

About Mandawa

Known for its very popular Mandawa Fort, Mandawa is a quaint little town in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Popularly known as the Open Art Gallery, the town is replete with paved archways and magnificent havelis and fortresses. It is located in the heart of the Shekhawati region and is dotted with palaces and splendid mansions (havelis). The aura and vibe of the place reflect the social and cultural environment of the place in the bygone era. Owing to its royal rendition, it is also a hot spot for movie shoots and is filled in by media on and off the year.

A truly unforgettable experience to capture the vibrancy of the entire state of Rajasthan in one place in terms of Art and Havelis.

So here is the detailed itinerary for the 2 day-2 night photo capture trip;

Date of Journey: 20th Sep, Firday

Meeting Place is Main gate of IIT Delhi.

Timings: At 11.00 pm leave Delhi for Mandawa (pls be there 15mins prior to departure)

Day I- 21st September

Saturday: Reach Mandawa at around ­­­­7.00 am, have Breakfast, we will visit world Famous Havelies of Mandawa ,Mandawa Fort and click around Havelis

Day II- 22nd September

Sunday: Early Morning capture the Sunrise, capturing rural lifestyle in the morning and after breakfast we will visit Upcoming Art Village and do a village Tour , Meeting villagers and clicking . Enroute we will clicking famous baolis and old village havelis .

Departure: Leave for Delhi at 5.00 pm and reach Delhi by 11.00pm.

Other Important Details:

Stay: will be on twin sharing basis in a home stay environment. Home stay at a guest house in Heritage Haveli     


Mode of travel: We will be travelling in an AC TEMPO traveller together.
What to Gear?   Can tag your camera, tripod, wide angle lenses and zoom lenses (depending on what your interest is).

Comfortable shoes, shades and sunscreen, batteries and memory card etc.  And needless to say – enthusiasm in abundance!

Meal:  Simple vegetarian meals will be provided by the club
The group will follow the itinerary mentioned above, however if one wants to visit places at one owns will, can visit accordingly on their own.

Please note: If for any reason you are not able to come, the registered amount is non-refundable due to advance on accommodation reservations.

MY LATINAMERICAN & CAIBBEAN TRIP PHOTO CONTEST 2019

We are pleased to cordially invite all Indian travelers to participate in this exciting contest so that their photos can reveal the fascinating beauty and luminosity of Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

About the Contest :

We are pleased to inform you that the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) in Collaboration with Delhi Photography Club (DPC)  is organizing the 4th Edition of the Photography Contest “My Latin-American and Caribbean Trip” MLCT 2019. The previous editions of this contest enjoyed a very warm and enthusiastic reception by the Indian public. The great collection of diversity and beauty captured in more than 100 photographs received in the last three years, not only demonstrates the growing interest of Indian tourists in the region, but also a passion for Latin America and the Caribbean that is being transmitted through their mesmerizing digital images which have become attractive postcards of the natural, cultural and gastronomic riches that Latin America and the Caribbean countries have to offer.

This year participants can send up to 5 photographs (each of them, at least 2 MB minimum) which they must have taken during their trips to Latin America and the Caribbean. Last date of entry is  10th October, 2019 . The themes of the photos should be within the following categories: landscapes, people, monuments and others that may represent the country or countries visited by the photographers. The winning photographs will be placed in an exhibition in New Delhi and the first three winners will be awarded.

Rules and Regulations 

  • The contest is only for Indian nationals residing in India.
  • Participation in this contest is completely free and the participants can choose any theme focus; (landscapes, Monuments, People etc). The only requirements are that the photographs should be taken in Latin American & Caribbean countries.
  • Each participant may submit up to 5 photos in digital format and the minimum file size for each photo entry is 2 MB.

  • The email must indicate the full name of the person, age, sites where the photograph was taken (City and Country), contact information and a brief description of the photograph.
  • Selfies or collages are not allowed.
  • The photos will be accepted  till 5.00 pm of  10th of October 2019.
  • The evaluation of the photographs will be conducted by a committee comprising of officials from the Embassies of Latin American and Caribbean countries, travel journalists & travel agents who will select the finalists.
  • Winners will be directly contacted through email in the last week of November.
  • The winning photographs will be displayed in a gala exhibition in New Delhi where the photographers will be invited.

DPC announces one more most amazing trip to Garli and Masroor

DPC brings you one more breathtaking trip to Garli and Masroor Rock Cut Temple in the month of May to kill the heat of New Delhi.

About Gari and Masroor

Garli is a delightful destination for anyone looking to get away from Delhi over a long weekend or simply to explore Himachal Pradesh’s countryside. Garli has been designated a heritage zone by the Ministry of Tourism, HP.

A walk around Garli is like stepping back in time. Armed with a handy map that details the sights of interest, wander down cool alleys and lanes bordered by thick greenery to discover broken down two-storied mansions. Even in their state of disrepair it is obvious that they must have been glorious in their day. If houses could speak, these structures would have fascinating tales to tell.

There is hardly any other Indian hamlet with such stunningly diverse styles of architecture on display amongst the mansions, temples and sarais, all of which stand testimony to the majestic existence Garli that once had. Garli is a classic example of collaborative town planning, vision & foresight of its founders.

Masroor Rock Cut Temple, Kangra

Dubbed as the Himalayan Pyramid, Masroor Rock Cut Temple is a popular archaeological site in India is around 32 km from Kangra on Nagrota-Surian Link Road. A major part of the famous rock cut temples are in ruins yet one can study the relics clearly. According to different studies conducted by the experts the temple complex was built in between 8th-9th century AD. A group of 15 monolithic rock cut temples designed in Indo-Aryan style. The main shrines contain the stone idols of Rama-Laxman and Sita. It is claimed that all 15 temples are carved out of a single rock.

2-3 hours guided heritage walk within Garli village.
Return to the guest house & relax yourselves.
Enjoy folk music by local singers.

May 26

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise, fresh air & birds chirping outside your room.
Have breakfast and replenish yourself.
A 2 hour drive to Masroor rock cut temple. Indulge yourself into the historical monument.
Lunch at a local dhaba/restaurant.
Visit the picturesque Kangra fort, an hour’s drive from the temple.
